"I just want to say what an enormous help it has been for me to be able to contact Swinfen Trust for referrals. I had got to the point of wondering how to continue, because I found it so stressful when I came across cases from other disciplines and with conditions in which I had no experience. I work in a remote area so have very little back up. Joining your trust made a a world of difference and in a couple of cases your service enabled me to manage a couple of expatriate cases successfully that I would otherwise have sent out of the area for care.
I really am incredibly grateful to you and all your colleagues who make this service possible Many, many thanks"

"The Trustees were very impressed with you charity aims, particularly to the Developing world. But more importantly, what strikes a chord is the ability to deliver such services in difficult locations away from the medical facilities which we take for granted in this country. What you are achieving is an eye opener to us!"
"i am SOOO grateful for your efforts to helping xxxxxxxx - if we can persuade the orphanage managers of this reality she will go ahead for adoption and a LIFE!! I am so happy for her - thank you is not enough"

Iraq
This is the view of one of the Iraqi doctors who have referred cases to us:
Telemedicine helped me in many situations and cases. In one case, the opinions and advice from one of the plastic surgeons helped to elicit many other ideas in my mind to help the patient and do what satisfied him a lot. In another case with scalp avulsion, the advice given supported my opinion and I did the job more confidently. The results were excellent. In a further case, many opinions from surgeons and plastic surgeons helped me to save the life of a small girl who was injured in a terrorist attack in Mosul. This was one of the most difficult cases I faced. The opinions of your Trust consultants have helped in some instances to change, and in others to support, my ways of treatment.
This is the view of another Iraqi doctor:
The tremendous usefulness of [the email referral system] to our….patients [in need] could be summarized in three points. The first benefit is its provision of modern clinical practice to our patients through the link with distinguished consultants in different specialties who have devoted their time and efforts to the help of patients freely and willingly. The second beneficial point is learning. In one case, the advisory consultant’s replies were not brief and concise messages, but they were long, detailed, informative and instructive. They were rich in modern knowledge about the specific case. The last useful point, which is not perceptible, is its effects on the behaviour and characters of recipient doctors. The telemedical staff practised the virtues of love, care and assistance to patients and doctors whom they do not know. This inspired us to behave similarly to our patients and our colleagues.
‘We are so proud to read about your wonderful project in Washington Post , and wishing you prosperity . The people here appreciate too much this charity and they hope that you will be able to help in solving medical problems by providing more and more facilities including clinical attachments in advanced health centers or training courses on recent approaches to deal with medical difficulties." Doctor in Southern Iraq
‘Your work gives many of us in the third world hope based on pure human desire to give help to those who need it and bridge the artificial gap between nations. Your work does serve an objective of giving some information about diseases and situations which our colleague in the west are not in touch perhaps with the changes in the features of the disease which may affect anyone who comes to the region for work or tourism.’ Doctor in Yemen
I read the article (in the Washington Post) and saw the wonderful picture of both, I think what was written is not expressing the moral benefit of feeling that someone is sitting in front of you dedicated his time to serve you nor the actual benefit of what could be a consultation with a proper answer (that will) affect the management and relief the treating physician (is able to give) especially in our setting in Iraq that even the communication between Iraqi doctors inside the country is difficult. These facts are hidden inside the hearts of the people who are getting benefit of your program. Many thanks again for all your efforts and wishing we could help in any manner you want. Best regards’ Doctor in Baghdad
Thank you for this great idea, helping ill and sick ones through the internet. Rainer Passlack Hamburg

"This is a wonderful thing you are doing with the Telemedicine Links - it is great that there are people like yourselves who see the need and make it happen for low-resourced countries. Congratulations on your efforts - it will save many lives and give a higher quality service of medicine than any of these countries like Vanuatu, will ever be able to afford." Dr Margaret McAdam, who recently did an aid project in Vanuatu. May 2008
"We are so happy to be able to access the expertise available through the Swinfen Trust. Though we are not in a hospital situation at the moment, it is really helpful when people refer cases to me." Dr Rachel Pinniger. August 2008
"After working awhile on Telemedicine issues, I am deeply convinced that theSwinfen Charitable Trust is the most efficient system." Dr Laurent Bonnardot, on his request for a link for Concordia French/Italian Base in Antarctica. May 2008.
